Homer Ransford Watson, painter (born 14 January in Doon, Canada West; died there 30 May ). Co-founder of the influential Canadian Art Club and an early president of the Royal Canadian Academy, and included in the collections of the likes of Queen Victoria and Lord Strathcona, Homer Watson was one of the most accomplished and successful Canadian artists of the late 19th.
Homer Watson was an artist born in Doon, Ontario. One of his earliest efforts, "The Pioneer Mill", appeared at the first exhibition of the Royal Canadian Academy and was purchased by the Marquis of Lorne for Queen Victoria. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Academy, serving as president in The fonds consists of correspondence re his estate and paintings; pamphlets.
Phoebe Amelia Watson (1 June – 22 October ) was a Canadian painter and curator. She worked in painted ceramics, watercolor and oils. She was the sister of Homer Watson, the well-known landscape artist, and devoted much of her life to promoting her brother's work, including her role as the curator of the Homer Watson Art Gallery at Doon.
